Shine Resourcing has been in the business of working with recruitment and HR professionals and for 8 years and Gemma, the Director has been in recruitment in Australia for 12 years. In that time, we have learned a lot, seen a lot of change, and built a fantastic network of contacts at all levels, in-house and agency.
Our Associate Director, Chris Southcote-Want has the same level of recruitment experience across Australia and also brings a wealth of knowledge in management, as well as his fun side-gig of stand-up comedy…if you’re ever in Brisbane you have to check out his shows!
Keira Thorne joined is in 2021 to embark on her career in recruitment, and not only does she love it, but she is a natural! She works hard to service our clients, leaving no stones unturned to find talent, and she is passionate about people, helping businesses and candidates alike. Keira fully embraces the Shine way of authenticity and doing right by candidates and clients, always.
Gemma relocated to Australia in 2009 and after a year of soul searching, she landed a job in IT recruitment. Although she loved recruitment, Gemma’s understanding of tech is limited (to say the least!) and she knew that she wanted to specialise in something she really resonated with. Rec2Rec and then later, HR Recruitment, were really natural alignments for Gemma and she enjoys learning about her clients and candidates and the changing HR landscape every day. She started Shine Resourcing with a vision to create a business that puts staff, candidates and clients first in a collaborative and supportive environment where everyone would be able to learn and grow, in their careers as well as outside of work. When she isn’t in the office you will find Gemma hanging out with her family and exploring her new City of Brisbane!
Chris comes with over 10 years’ recruitment experience primarily across professional services throughout Australia. He is a prolific networker so it made sense that he ended up in rec2rec. In his “spare time” Chris is studying psychology and nursing at QUT, is a TEDx Speaker, a LGBTQIA+ advocate, runs a social enterprise called Kickstart Comedy which adds laughter into corporate social strategy and fundraising, can be seen around Australian comedy clubs as a stand-up comic and sends the remainder of his time obsessing over his two dogs.
Keira is from the UK and first visited Australia as a backpacker in 2011. She loved the Country and it was no surprise when 10 years later she came back to build a life here. Keira has a strong background in customer service and it shows in who she is and how she works. She is organised, warm, approachable and smart and certainly an asset to the Shine team. Keira has seen huge success very quickly in her recruitment career and she will continue to go from strength to strength. When she is taking time at the weekends to relax you might find Keira on her Roller Skates or having snuggles with Winnie, her pug puppy!
